How to navigate in the range of thermal transfer ribbons?

For quality everyday work, it is necessary to understand the 3 main types of ribbons, the use of which must be evaluated by each person depending on the material to be printed and the environment in which the label will be used.

RESIN type tapes.

With these ribbons we get the highest quality result and have excellent durability. Resistant to temperature fluctuations, smearing, chemistry, scratches. Compatible with 600dpi printing devices. Suitable for PP, PVC PE, and PET materials. Usually not used for thermal paper, as the properties of thermal paper allow you to print without ribbon. Not suitable for matte and glossy paper.

WAX RESIN type tapes.

Unlike RESIN, they can be used on matte and glossy paper. Compatible with 600dpi printing devices. Good value for money, however, some properties lose RESIN tapes. Resistant to smearing, light scratches, moisture and a little chemistry. Suitable for PP, PVC PE, and PET materials, glossy and matte paper. Usually not used for thermal paper, as the properties of thermal paper allow you to print without ribbon.

WAX tapes.

Budget class tape with lower durability properties. Resistant to mechanical abrasion. More recommended for use in dry environments without direct and prolonged exposure to moisture and mechanical. Suitable for glossy and matte paper. Can be used for PP, PVC, PE, and PET materials. Usually not used for thermal paper, because the properties of thermal paper already allow you to print without ribbon.

Before choosing the ribbon you need, make sure your printer is suitable for ribbon printing.
